This is the third installment of PETRI Camera’s SLR Camera Future Series!

Following on from the previous and previous installments, today we will continue our look at the PETRI Camera manual focus film SLR camera released in 1970.
This time we would like to focus on the self-timer.

What is a self-timer?

The self-timer is a very convenient function that allows you to automatically adjust the time to release the shutter when taking a picture of yourself or a group photo including the photographer.

Petri V6-II (Reference product)

This is a silver film SLR camera with a steel body, released in 1970.

The self-timer lever is located just below the shutter button, a feature of this camera.
A base plate for the shutter lever is also included.

To use the self-timer, move the lever to any position in the counterclockwise direction with your hand as shown in this image.
The Petri V6-II can be moved up to this position.

Overall, the lever has a machined design that is easy to operate.

Then, when the silver-plated round button on the lever base plate above the shutter lever rotation axis is pressed, the shutter lever begins to move clockwise.

The shutter lever then returns to this position to release the shutter.

In this article, we introduced the self-timer of PETRI Camera’s manual focus film SLR camera released in 1970.

PETRI Camera’s film SLR cameras have many unique design features that other companies do not have, and we have already covered the eye-level finder and the shutter release button.
The self-timer introduced this time also has quite a few unique parts, such as the lever design and the maximum position of the timer lever.
It is fun to look for unique film camera designs and functions that you can’t find anywhere else (laughs).

It’s the same phrase every time,
I will continue to write more and more columns on film camera designs and parts of film cameras that interest me, so please look forward to them!
