In this issue, we will look at the lens mount base design of a manual focus film SLR camera released in 1975 by ASAHI Optical Industries.

ASAHI PENTAX K2 (Reference product)

The lens mount on this body is a K mount.
The mount base is designed with a braid between the underside of the eye-level finder and the mount base, with a gentle angle from each end of the braid to the outer edge of the lens mount, and from there back to the bottom in an oval shape.

The lens mount is made of steel and the connection to the body is made of plastic. The lens mount is attached with 6 screws and has a set pin and release lever for lens attachment.

An exposure adjustment dial will be attached between the lens mount and the base.

This side has a film sensitivity dial.

In this issue, we introduced a lens mount base for manual focus SLR cameras released in 1975 by ASAHI Optical Industries.

The K2 was released four years before the ME Super we introduced last time, but it is the basis of the mount base designed for the K mount.

It is a unique lens mount base with exposure adjustment function between the lens mount and the base, and film sensitivity function attached to this part.

I will continue to write columns on the lens mount base design of film SLR cameras and other features of interest, so please look forward to them!
