In this issue, we will look at the lens mount base design of a manual focus film SLR camera released in 1973 by Asahi Optical Industries.
ASAHI PENTAX SPOTMATIC F (Reference product)
The lens mount on this body is a PS mount (M42 mount).
The mount base is designed to descend gently from the same surface as the eye-level finder to the underside, and then return at a slightly steeper angle.
The lens mount base is plastic on the body side and steel on the lens side. The mount is held in place with four screws.
This side has a switch knob for the exposure meter.
In this issue, we introduced a lens mount base for a manual focus SLR camera released in 1973 by ASAHI Optical Industries.
In the early days of ASAHI Optical’s SLR cameras, the design was basically linear, but in this SPF, the design has changed to use smooth curves.
Even with the use of curves, the simple diagonal cut design is very good.
I will continue to write columns on the lens mount base design of film SLR cameras and other areas of interest, so please look forward to them!
