In this issue, we will look at the lens mount base design of a auto focus film SLR camera released in 1997 by Asahi Optical Industries.

PENTAX MZ-50 QUARTZ DATE (Reference product)

The lens mount on this body is a K mount.
The mount base is designed with a gentle slope from the eye-level finder down to the underside, and then curves back up from there.

The lens mount is attached with 5 screws. The lens removal button is attached at the bottom.

On this side, from the top, there is a release socket for bulb photography, a mode button for the built-in flash, and a lever to change focus mode.

In this issue, we introduced the lens mount base for the 1997 release of Asahi Optical Industries’ auto-focus SLR camera.

In the MZ-50, the lens mount base is designed as an integral part of the body, which is very neat.

The space on the side of the mount base is well used for switches, and it is a very good camera body.

I will continue to write columns on the interesting aspects and functions of film cameras, so please look forward to them!
