Today we have found a unique part of the telephoto lens design that we will be turning into a column.
We will use the lenses that are on sale at our vintage shop Japan Inc.

In a normal telephoto lens, the display portion of the distance indicator (distance reference) shows all the values under the focusing ring. (Reference lens)
In this telephoto lens, the distance indicator (distance reference) is designed to display only the distance to be matched and the distances before and after the distance to be matched, with a cutout for easy identification.
There is a notch in the aperture value display at the top of the aperture ring.
Last time we introduced a lens from the Asahi Kogaku era with this notch.
We found that the Super Multi Coated TAKUMAR series has a notched design regardless of whether it is a wide-angle or telephoto lens.
Later in that series, the notch seems to have been eliminated.
I wish this design had been more prevalent as it is a very good design and an easy to understand method.
