In this issue, we would like to introduce the film counter of RICOH’s manual focus film SLR camera released in 1978.
RICOH XR500 (Reference product)
The film counter is located on the top surface of the film winding lever rotation.
The number of sheets can be seen through a nearly rectangular rounded window.
Counting begins at the start of the red-colored start section on a black base.
The number section proceeds in basic white color; from the first to the fourth sheet, the number of sheets is memory only, but after that, the number proceeds in even numbers.
The twelfth card will be a red-colored display, but after that it will again proceed in even numbers, and the twentieth and twenty-fourth cards will again be red-colored letters.
It then proceeds with an even number of white-colored letters and finally ends with the 36th red-colored letter.
In this issue, we introduced a film counter for RICOH’s manual focus film SLR camera released in 1978.
The film counter on the XR500 is marked with a red color to indicate the number of shots.
The number of sheets is displayed in consideration of the types of film available at the time, and we found this camera to be very user-friendly and easy to understand.
I will continue to write columns on aspects of film cameras that do not receive much attention and new discoveries, so please look forward to them!
