This time we would like to introduce a Canon manual focus film SLR camera self-timer released in 1964, 58 years ago.
What is a self-timer?
The self-timer is a mechanism that allows you to release the shutter after a short period of time when taking a picture.
This function is mainly useful when you want to take a picture of yourself or when you want to take a group photo including the photographer.
Canon FX (Reference product)
This is a Canon FX released in 1964.
The self-timer has a lever next to the lens mount on the shutter button side.
The lever design is a 1960’s mainstream lever with a cutout at the hand-holding point.
To use the self-timer, turn the lever counterclockwise with your hand, as shown in this image, to about the 6 o’clock position.
The lever then begins to move when the shutter release button is pressed.
The shutter is automatically released when the tip reaches 12 o’clock.
