A feature unique to rangefinder cameras and SLR cameras among film cameras is the film winder lever, which serves to advance the film to the next frame after the shutter is released.

In this article, we would like to focus on the film winder lever of a vintage Canon SLR camera released in 1960.

We will use the cameras on sale at our vintage shop Japan Inc.

Canon’s film winding lever position in the 1960s is on the bottom.

The lever is designed to stand on its tip for easy operation.

Operate the lever by tilting the tip toward you.

It has a smart design shape so that the bottom is flat.

The winding lever of this Canon Canon CanononflexRP is the same as that of the rangefinder camera Canonet introduced in the previous issue.

The winding lever of this Canon Canon ConflexRP has a winding lever on the bottom of the camera, just like the Canonet rangefinder camera introduced in the previous issue.

I could not find out why they adopted the bottom winding lever.

However, it was a very original design that was unparalleled in this era.

After this, the bottom winding lever was moved to the top like other manufacturers, but Canon’s original idea will remain in history.

It is truly wonderful to find an idea that is not found anywhere else and to commercialize it.

And that great idea stays in people’s minds.

I would like to continue to write about such original ideas in my column.

I hope you’ll stay with me!

Thank you again for reading my column.

In addition to the film SLR cameras introduced this time, we also sell vintage cameras and lenses, anime goods, and radio cassette players, so please see the URL below.
