In this installment, we take a look at the lens mount base design of Canon’s 1966 manual focus film SLR camera.

Canon PELLIX QL (Reference product)

The lens mount for this body is an FL mount.

The design of the mount base is a gentle slant from the bottom of the eye-level finder down to the outer diameter of the lens mount and then a slightly tighter slant from there, with a gentle curve on the underside as well.

Compare with the Canon FX introduced previously.

The angle of the photo is a little different, but they look almost identical.

The lens mount base consists of a black-colored body part and a silver lens mount part.

Compare with Canon FX from this angle as well.

The photos are taken from almost the same angle and look identical.

In this article, we introduced a lens mount base for a Canon manual focus SLR camera released in 1966.

We compared it with the Canon FX we introduced earlier, and found that they have the same lens mount base since the mounts are the same FL mount.

By using the same design for other models, the lens mount base design was designed to improve production efficiency and appeal to users by reassuring them of Canon’s standard design.

Please look forward to future columns where we will continue to compare designs and other interesting features of film cameras from the same manufacturer!
